Clenbuterol has been shown to induce lipolysis whilst promoting an increase in muscle mass. Consequently, Clenbuterol has been employed within the farming industry to produce livestock more economically. Analysis of tissue samples has shown that residues of Clenbuterol accumulate in edible tissue. Suitable screening methods must be in place to ensure that meat products for human consumption are free from residues of the drug.
