Ethanol Testing in Alcohol, Fruit Juice & Food
Why test for ethanol?
Naturally abundant, quantitative determination of ethanol is not only important in the manufacture of intoxicating wines, beers and spirits, but also for low-alcohol and non-alcoholic beverages, fruit juices, and a range of other foodstuffs, including chocolates, sweets, jam, honey, vinegar, and dairy products. Ethanol testing in wine is necessary for grading of the vintage with amounts exceeding >17.5% (v/v) indicating supplementation.
Testing for Ethanol
Randox Food Diagnostics can provide a highly specific enzymatic screening test for accurate determination of ethanol levels in wine. The assay can be run at a series of wavelengths ranging from 334, 340 or 365 nm. This flexibility ensures the assay is compatible for use with most commercially available spectrophotometers. Accurate ethanol measurements in fermenting wines are often achieved through time consuming and expensive methods that may be required to be out sourced from larger laboratories. The simplicity of this assay enables it be performed routinely providing accurate and reliable results in 7 minutes. This product is currently supplied to the wine/beverage and food producers globally.
